State police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following:
• Abraham Rodriguez, 23, of Slatington, was cited for cruelty to animals after police were called to an incident at 1:08 p.m. Jan. 6 at 54 S, Kittatinny Road, East Penn Township.
Police said it is alleged he left a dog outside in the cold for hours.
• A 42-year-old Kunkletown man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance after a traffic stop police made at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 12.
They stopped him inf a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado for committing Title 75 offenses at the intersection of Mountain View Drive and Short Lane in Polk Township.
• A 31-year-old Lehighton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop police made at 9:26 p.m. Dec. 30.
She was stopped in a 2009 Lexus for committing numerous traffic violations at the intersection of the Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard and Maiden Lane in Lehighton.
• Police are investigating the theft of a pair of skis valued at $969 that was reported at 6:35 p.m. Jan. 10., It happened at 1660 Blue Mountain Drive, Lower Towamensing Township.
The skis are ‘J’ Peacekeepers brand with Marker Griffon 13 ID bindings.
• A 53-year-old Lehighton woman is the victim of the theft of an Anderson rifle from within her residence.
Police said she reported the incident at 2:28 a.m. Jan. 15.
• Matthew L. Buchman, 32, of Palmerton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 7:20 p.m. Jan. 13 on Forest Inn Road, Towamensing Township. He was uninjured.
Police said he was driving a 2014 Ford Escape at an increased rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The car exited the northbound shoulder and struck a utility pole with its passenger’s side front end.
Police said Buchman was medically evaluated at the scene but was unhurt.
The car sustained heavy damages and was towed from the scene.
• Police were summoned to investigate a missing person case at 7:17 p.m. Jan. 7 at a property on East Bertsch Street in Lansford.
They said a juvenile was reported missing. Police said interviews were conducted with family members at the residence and the investigation is continuing.
• A 17-year-old Palmerton boy was charged with harassment by physical contact after police were called to the Palmerton Area School District grounds, Fireline Road, Lower Towamensing Township, at 4:03 p.m. Jan. 9.
The victim is a 13-year-old girl from Palmerton who told police she was assaulted by the boy.
• A 67-year-old man from Lehighton is the victim of a theft from a motor vehicle incident that police were called on White Street in Bowmanstown.
They said between 10 p.m. Jan. 7 and 1 p.m. Jan. 8, a fire police jacket and badge were stolen from a 2001 Dodge Durango. The estimated loss is $125, police said.
They said the Durango was unlocked at the time.
