Locals place at PA Farm Show

Local residents received awards in a number of contests at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show, which runs through Saturday at the state Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.

They include:

• Morgan Myers, Lehighton - third place in Animal Posters/plant or animal science; first place in Beginner Table Runner, Placemat, Small Quilt or Other item (machine quilted).

• Maggie Walker, Lehighton - first place in beginner crocheting; second place in Beginner Table Runner, Placemat, Small Quilt or Other item (machine quilted); second place in Sew Much More (pillow); second place in Sew Much More (pajama tote, laundry, gym bag), and first place in Sew Much More (wall hanging).

• Delia Keiser, Lehighton - first place and Best of Show in beginner crocheting, and second place in Beginner Table Runner, Placemat, Small Quilt or Other item (tied).

• Kristin Simmons, Lehighton - first place in Youth or Adult Skirt/Street Wear; second place in Machine Quilted Bedcover-Crib; third place in Crafts-Other; fourth and fifth places in Quilt Blocked-Pieced (Adult 19-plus); first place in Container Garden-Cactus; second place in Container Garden-Succulent; first place in Flowering House Plants (anthurium), and third place in Small Tote Bag (ages 19 and over).

• Terri Scheckler, Lehighton - second place in hand Quilting/Embroirdary; second place in Basketry-made of entirely natural materials; first place in Cloth Toys (stuffed figures of animals); third place in Table Runners (mixed techniques/machine quilted); third place in Handbag/Purse/Computer Bag (adult ages 19 and over) and first in Bookmark (ages 15 and over).

• Carol Meixell, Carbon County - third place in Machine Quilted Bedcover/Applique Pieced Combo; first place in Art to Wear an item suitable for display; first place in Cloth Toys (dolls); third place in Quilted Wall Hangings (mixed techniques/machine quilted); first place in Table Runners (pieced and hand quilted); first and second places in Table Runners (pieced and hand quilted, also applique), and first place in Large Tote Bag (ages 19 and over).

• Lorna Walker, Lehighton - third place in Crafts from Natural Materials.

• Kathy Long, Lehighton - first place in Barn Quilts (ages 19 and older).

• Karly Rex, New Ringgold - second place in beginner Table Runner, Placemat, Small Quilt or Other Item (tied).

• Lyma Dunbar, Tamaqua - first place in Sew Much Fun - Instant Top, Skirt or Dress, and second place in Create Your Own Project.
