Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported on the following crashes that happened on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Monica D. Reed, 52, of Lehighton, was cited after a crash at 4:43 p.m. Jan. 9 at mile marker 59.8 in South Whitehall Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Kia Soul northbound when she lost control of the car and it hit the center concrete medial with its driver’s side, then spun across both lanes of ravel and made a secondary impact with the guide rail off the right side of the roadway.

Reed and two passengers - Hailey B. Forward, 33, and Alyssa S. Neff, 32, both of Lehighton - were all uninjured.

• Alisher M. Sabirov, 34, of Brooklyn, New York, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 9 a.m. Jan. 7 at mile marker 67.1 in Washington Township.

Police said she was driving a 2016 Volvo northbound when it slid and struck the embankment on the right side of the road.

She was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• Ronald F. Chamrin, 45, of Ambler, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:39 a.m. Jan. 7 at mile marker 63.4 in North Whitehall Township.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Kia Telluride northbound when it spin and struck the guide rail on the right side of the road and then hit the left concrete barrier.

He was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• Gina M. Neumann, 47, of Lehighton, was cited for careless driving after a two-vehicle crash at 8:41 p.m. Jan. 5 at mile marker 62.1 in North Whitehall Township.

Police said she was driving a 208 GMC Yukon northbound when it struck the rear bumper of a 2011 Volkswagen van operated by Colin Ford, 36, of North Charleston, South Carolina.

Neither driver, nor five passengers in the van, were injured.

• Police said an unknown vehicle that was exiting the turnpike at the Mahoning Valley Interchange struck the door of a toll booth and continued to exit the turnpike without stopping.

They said it happened on Jan. 2 but the time and vehicle make, model and registration were unable to be determined.
