Pl. Valley hires assistant principal
The Pleasant Valley School Board approved the hiring of a new assistant principal for the high school during its meeting on Thursday night.
Jeremy Byrd, of Wellsboro, will be joining the staff at the high school as its new assistant principal. He is replacing Jamie Rockwell, who left in December.
Byrd’s salary will be $90,000, which will be prorated for this school year. His start date is yet to be determined.
Byrd will be coming to the district from his position as principal of Wellsboro High School, where he started as assistant principal in 2019.
The school board also learned of the resignation of Colleen Dinan, a biology teacher at the high school, effective Feb. 20. She will be replaced by James Long Jr., who will receive a prorated salary of $70,957 at the level of Step 2. He will begin on or about March 12.
The school district is shuffling some other teacher positions. Maegan Mostellar was hired to be a second-grade teacher at the elementary school. Mostellar will receive a prorated salary of $59,057 at the level of Step 8.
She is replacing Michelle Antolick, who is moving to the fifth-grade at the intermediate school. Antolick is replacing Jennifer Mulder. Mulder is moving to the middle school to become the new family consumer science teacher. She is replacing Janis Gaglione, who resigned in August.
