State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following:
• Halia Williams, 21, of Saylorsburg, is facing charges of retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 13 to Weis Market, 924 Weir Lake Road, Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said video surveillance showed him stealing hair products, razors, cosmetic items, ice cream and Coca Cola valued at $187.85.
• A 40-year-old Saylorsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police were called to a report of an unresponsive man inside a vehicle at 8:08 p.m. Dec. 9 at 2642 Route 115, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was in a 2008 Chrysler and showed signs of impairment. Her was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, for processing and a blood draw. Police said while the man was being transported he made a threat to harm the investigating officer, resulting in additional charges of terroristic threats being filed against him.
• Police were dispatched to the Pleasant Valley Middle School, Route 115 and Pilgrim Way, Chestnuthill Township, at 4:21 p.m. Dec. 6 for a report of a student in possession of drugs.
Police said their investigation showed the student, a 14-year-old boy from Brodheadsville, was in possession of a vaping device that contained THC.
He will face charges that will be filed through the Monroe County Juvenile Court.
• Police received a Child Line report that was generated regarding a 14-year-old girl.
They said the report provided concerns of physical abuse within a residence located on North drive, Chestnuthill Township, including forcible rape by the opposite sex.
• Police were summoned to the Sunoco Uni-Mart, 1437 Route 209, Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 11 to investigate a potential theft incident.
They said a skimming device was found attached to an ATM inside the store. Anyone with information pertaining to the incident is asked to contact police at the barracks.
• A 16-year old student at Pleasant Valley High School, Brodheadsville, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance at 1:52 p.m. Dec. 7.
Police said the Brodheadsville resident was found in school with a yellow vape pen by a staff member.
Police said the student was suspended and assigned to the Colonial Academy.
•Kai Gardner, 33, of Saylorsburg, was charged after she was denied in an attempt to buy a Sig Sauer, 365X, 9-mm pistol at Dunkelberger’s Sports Outfitters, 1471 Route 209, Chestnuthill Township, on Nov. 19.
Police said she completed an application/record of sale form and firearms transactions record, after which time a store employee was a background check through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System that resulted in her being denied purchase rights.
• A 57-year-old Jim Thorpe man is the victim of a harassment by communications incident that police were summoned to at 9 a.m. Dec. 18.
Police said the resident of a property on Delaware Drive, Penn Forest Township, received a harassing Christmas card from an unknown person by mail.
• Police said a 16-year-old girl from Albrightsville is the victim of an incest case they were summoned to investigate.
Police said at 9:13 a.m. Dec. 15, they received a Childline referral from the Carbon County Office of Children and Youth Services regarding the girl, who told a school counselor a suspect had been kicked out of the residence for what he had done to her past and present. The county agency’s personnel related the learned on Dec. 13 the suspect exposed his private parts to the girl and laid on top of her.
• Police were summoned to a property on Stoney Ledge Drive, Jackson Township, at 6:26 p.m. Dec. 13.
They said the call involved a Childline report having been generated regarding a 12-year-old girl from Stroudsburg, in which concerns of physical abuse within the residence were presented.
• Police said a 16-year-old girl from Stroudsburg reported an incident at 3:24 p.m. Dec. 21.
They said it happened at a property on Thunderbird Terrace, Chestnuthill Township, when a juvenile male allegedly videographed himself and the girl having sexual intercourse.
• Reynaldo Laruy, 54, of Stroudsburg, was charged with harassment by physical contact after police were called to a domestic disturbance at 6:03 p.m. Dec. 27 at a property on Stoney Ridge Drive, Jackson Township.
A 43-year-old woman from Stroudsburg told police Laruy pushed her during the dispute.
• A 35-year-old Albrightsville woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop police made at 1:15 a.m. Dec. 17. They stopped her in a 2019 Kia Sportage for Title 75 violations at the intersection of Route 115 and the Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township.
