Watch for ice tonight, flooding Tuesday
People throughout the region are digging out snow totaling anywhere from 10 to 14 inches, with more in higher elevations.
The National Weather Service reported Saturday night that some areas had 3.5 inches of snow falling per hour.
As the temperature drops tonight and winds pick up ice could form on side roads.
Then, get ready for the next round Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says heavy rain will move in from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. Forecast rainfall for Tuesday into Wednesday has widespread total amounts of 2 to 3 inches with localized amounts of 4 inches possible.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
The ground remains quite saturated following multiple rounds of heavy rainfall over the last few weeks. A period of higher hourly rainfall rates is possible during the overnight hours Tuesday night which would enhance the potential risk for flooding, particularly in urban areas.
Runoff due to snowmelt from this past weekend`s storm as well as tidal inundation in coastal areas may also exacerbate any flooding due to heavy rainfall.
