December 30, 1975 - Jim Thorpe scores the game’s first 18 points and rolls to a 73-55 victory over visiting Northwestern. The Olympians, who place five players in double-figure scoring, end the opening quarter with a commanding 29-3 advantage. Reserve Jens Kindt leads Thorpe with a team-high 14 points, while Berrae Meixsell and Bill Rieck both finish with 13. The winners, coached by Dennis Balliet, also receive 11 points from Lynn Mann and 10 from John McGuire. For the Tigers, Southworth tallies a team-high 14 points.
