State Police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following:
• Two vehicles were damaged in a crash at 3:15 p.m. Dec. 21 on Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township. No one was injured.
Police said Robert D. Cesare, 62, of Palmerton, driving a 2022 Toyota RAV4, was attempting to turn left onto Little Gap Road from 557 Little Gap Road and was looking to the west into the glare of a low-setting sun when it struck a 2011 Subaru Impreza driven by Gail L. Maholick, 72, of Lehighton, which was eastbound at the time.
Police said the Toyota sustained minor damages while the Impreza had heavy damages to its passenger’s side.
• A 41-year-old Stroudsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by police at 8:52 p.m. Dec. 21.
They stopped him in a 2015 Hyundai for an expired registration at the intersection of Hildabrant Lane and Route 115 in Ross Township.
• A 2018 Nissan Rogue landed on top of a tree stump after it went off Weir Lake Road in Ross Township at 1:04 a.m. Dec. 22.
Police did not identify the driver but said the operator was driving too fast for conditions when it traveled over an ice patch in the roadway and caused the driver to lose control of the Rogue. It was able to be removed from the stump and was driven from the scene.
Police said the driver denied injury and refused emergency medical services treatment.
• Police said a bus sideswiped a vehicle at 2:49 p.m. Dec. 22 on Mount Eaton Road, Ross Township. No one was injured.
They said Ana Garabote, 56, of Effort, was driving the 2015 IC bus southbound when it entered the northbound lane and sideswiped a Dodge Ram 2500 that was northbound. The truck left the scene without stopping, police said. Garabote and 10 passengers, all children aged 6-12, were uninjured.
• Kiera Deutsch, 29, of Lansford, and Ariel Stevens, 26, of Coaldale, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police were called to a disturbance at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 22. It happened in Lansford.
• Shannon Grundmann, 26, of Lehighton, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:12 a.m. Dec. 23 on Rolling Hills Road in Ross Township.
Police said he was driving a 2019 Ford Explorer eastbound and went off a left curve on the wet/icy roadway. The vehicle continued straight into a small tree and shrubbery, causing moderate damages to its passenger side. It was able to be driven from the scene.
• A 29-year-old Saylorsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, after traffic stop police made at 2:23 a.m. Dec. 10.
They stopped her in a 2020 Honda Civic for multiple Title 75 violations on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
• Police said they were summoned at 7:36 p.m. Dec. 20 to Holly Lane, Polk Township, for a drug possession case. The matter is under investigation.
