A Luzerne County man pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Carbon County court to robbery and aggravated assault and faces a certain state prison term at the time of sentencing. A Lehighton man pleaded guilty to a drunk driving charge and received a prison term. Both men were scheduled for trial next week.

NesquehoningincidentEleazar Yisrael, 24, of 33 W. 10th St., West Hazleton, pleaded guilty before Judge David W. Addy from charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Nov. 2, 2006, in Nesquehoning.Borough police charged that Yisrael entered Justin's Mini Mart at 701 E. Catawissa St. and pointed a handgun at Lori Melicharek and demanded money and then fled. Police said he placed the gun in Melicharek's back. He was wearing a bandana over his face at the time.Melicharek immediately called 9-1-1 and gave a description of Yisrael and the truck he was driving. Nesquehoning police, through the county communications center, sent an alert out of all area police. Weatherly police officer Michael Bogart set up a roadblock along SR93 in the area of J.C. Small Engine Repair business.Yisrael came upon the roadblock and attempted to go around it. In the process he ran his truck at Bogart almost hitting the officer who had to jump out of the way.A high speed chase then ensued with Yisrael crashing the truck and being taken into custody near the runoff on SR93 leading into Nesquehoning.The robbery charge, a felony two, stems from the Nesquehoning incident and the aggravated assault charge, also a felony two, is for the incident with Bogart.Addy accepted the plea but deferred sentencing and ordered a presentence investigation (PSI) be prepared by the adult probation office. Yisrael is currently in the county prison on the charges and has spent about 242 days in prison on the charges.Palmerton arrestAnthony Phillip Borrelli, 23, of 63 Lower Nis Hollow Drive, Lehighton, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI).He was arrested on Aug. 10, 2008, along Delaware Avenue in Palmertton. Police repsonded to the scene to a reported disturbance and subsequently arrested Borrelli for DUI. He refused to submit to a blood test and will lose his license for a year for the refusal.Addy sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in prison, a fine of $1,000 and costs, and another one year license suspension. He must also get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment and pay a $50 monthly supervision fee.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
