Five people were killed early today at three separate locations in Montgomery County; and the suspect in the slayings is currently believed to be barricaded inside a home in Souderton, 6ABC (WPVI-TV) reports.
According to WPVI-TV, SWAT teams are setting up a perimeter around the home where the suspect, who is believed to be a male military veteran, has barricaded himself inside.Additionally, SWAT has also been called to Pennsburg for a fourth scene that is linked to the shooting spree, 6ABC.com states.The incident began just before 4 a.m. when police were called to the 100 block of Main Street in Lower Salford Township. At the scene, police found a woman shot to death.At 4:25 a.m., another shooting occurred in the 100 block of West Fifth Street in Lansdale. Two people were found dead at the scene.Shortly after, police were also called to Franklin and Garfield streets in Souderton, where two additional people were found dead. All victims were reportedly shot at close range.During the incidents, WPVI-TV reports that police said two children who were reportedly taken from Lower Salford Township were found safe.The Sounderton Area School District is currently under a shelter-in-place order, and school officials have reported to 6ABC.com that students are safe and secured in the classrooms at this time.
