An elderly woman was flown by Penn Star helicopter to a hospital after she was struck by a car in Franklin Township.
According to reports on the scene, the incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. when two elderly women traveling north on Route 209 near the turnpike pulled to the right berm.
They then attempted to walk across the four busy lanes of traffic to a mini-mart. One of the two was struck by a southbound car operated by a young female.
It was reported at the scene the female driver was transported by police to the Lehighton hospital for a blood alcohol test. Franklin Township police are investigating the incident.
