Mahoning Township Police have charged a Hazleton man with driving under the influence.
On Aug. 30 Mahoning Township Police stopped a vehicle for a faulty exhaust system at a DUI checkpoint at 1:42 a.m.
The exhaust pipe was hanging by a strap secured through the driver door.
The driver of the vehicle, Victor Samuel of Hazleton, was found under the influence of alcohol.
A blood test showed a BAC of .12 percent.
Samuel has been charged with two counts of DUI and cited for the exhaust and careless driving.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Oct. 29.
