Nancy Derewiany, 17, of Palmerton, was crowned Miss Carbon County 1962 at the Carbon County Fair in Lehighton.

Her selection was approved amid the roar of 2,000 spectators who witnessed the pageant.The new queen was crowned by Miss Carbon County 1961, Louise Farrell, of Jim Thorpe.Runner-up to Derewiany was Susan Allison, 17, of Weatherly. Allison took top honors in the talent division. She sang, "It's A Most Unusual Day."
