A man hallucinating on controlled substances is facing charges after he called in a false fire alarm.
State police at Fern Ridge identified the suspect Harold M. Malone, 31, of Effort.According to troopers on July 10 about 10:30 a.m. Malone became highly impaired by controlled substances and hallucinated that a fire was occurring at his residence. He called 911 and reported the fire and also that his arms were burning and that someone else may be trapped in the home.State police along with volunteers from the Polk Township, West End, and Tunkhannock fire companies responded to the home but no fire and smoke was found.Malone was found on scene and was having hallucinations.He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was later released and arranged before a district judge on charges of false alarms to agencies of public safety and public drunkenness. He was committed to the county prison in Snydersville, where a state parole detainer was also filed against him, troopers added.
