Truman Reese, a veteran Bethlehem school teacher and administrator, was named superintendent of the Palmerton Area Schools. His salary was set at $12,000 per year. Reese was elected for a four-year term, succeeding Dr. Mearl Gerheim, who resigned effective July 1.

Reese assumed the acting superintendent position immediately and will take over his permanent position Aug. 1.
