HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The point person for state budget matters among Pennsylvania House Republicans says it's possible that a budget bill could be introduced early next week, kicking off the amendment process ahead of the new fiscal year's June 1 start.

House Appropriations Chairman Bill Adolph said in brief remarks on the House floor Tuesday that revenues have been "very disappointing and troubling" and called the spending plan a work in progress.The Delaware County Republican is vowing to have a budget passed by the end of the day June 30.Adolph's Democratic counterpart, Allegheny County Rep. Joe Markosek, says the budget proposed by Republican Gov. Tom Corbett in February could be as much as $1.7 billion in the red.Republicans in the General Assembly were meeting privately Tuesday to discuss the budget.
