It may be spring, but winter isn't ready to loosen its icy grip on the Northeast just yet.

According to the National Weather Service, which issued a hazardous weather outlook for the area early this morning, a "low pressure will develop off the Southeastern U.S. coast Monday night, then track Northeastward Tuesday into Wednesday, while rapidly intensifying.There remains some uncertainty to the track and how quickly it will intensify."Regardless, periods of snow should occur Tuesday and Tuesday night, with advisory level accumulations possible."It appears that the storm will not make a direct hit on the region but snow totals between one and four inches are possible in some areas.Temperatures are also expected to remain below normal this week, with highs in the 30s and lows in the low 20s.AccuWeather is reporting that another blast of arctic air is pushing south through the Midwest and Northeast, and will bring temperatures that are typical in January.Tuesday night, temperatures will fall below freezing so slick spots on untreated roadways and walkways are possible.Wednesday will be windy, with a chance of wind gusts up to nearly 40 mph.Temperatures should begin to rebound Thursday, with highs near 45. By Friday, temperatures will be in the high 50s with showers likely Friday and Saturday.
