Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., will hold a 9 a.m. First Sunday in Lent worship service. It includes recognition of Girl Scout troops. Music will be provided by the Trinity Praise Band.The Rev. Guy Grube will presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.Sunday School classes meet for students ages 3 through grade 12 at 10:30 a.m.World Day of Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Zion United Church of Christ, Second and Iron streets, Lehighton. The theme is "Streams in the Desert."Wednesday midweek Lenten worship begins at 6 p.m. March 12 with a simple soup supper. Devotional worship follows at 7 p.m. The midweek series continues through April 9.The districtwide Women of the ELCA will collect old cellphones, including smart phones, iPads, and iPods as a means of recycling that supports a women's shelter in Berks County. These items may be dropped off in the church office or given to synodical board member Brenda Benner before April 4.
