Copper telephone wire stolen in Schuylkill Co.

Copper telephone wire, valued at $10,000, was stolen from Verizon of St. Clair in Schuylkill Township between 6 p.m. Dec. 15 and 12:40 a.m. Dec. 16.

State police at Frackville say it happened in the area of Old Route 209 and Walnut Street in the township.

Police said 600 feet of copper phone lines that were attached to utility poles about 20 feet above ground were stolen.

Police said 300 feet of 300 stranded copper wire encased in hard plastic, valued at $6,000, and 300 feet of 100 stranded copper wire encased in hard plastic, valued at $4,000, were taken.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
