Pennsylvania State Police — Fern Ridge
State police at Fern Ridge reported the following:
• An 81-year-old Brodheadsville woman is the victim of a theft by deception incident that was reported to them at 4:27 p.m. Dec. 13.
The woman, who resides on Parkside Avenue in Tobyhanna Township, said she was contacted by a text message in regards to PayPal transactions that had failed. She said replied to the text and was asked to login to a website, helpdesk.me, after which time she was requested to enter sensitive login information that allowed the actor(s) to access financial information related to the woman.
• Daniel A. Cascioli, 57, of Effort, was cited after a three-car crash at 5:14 p.m. Dec. 8 on Route 125 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Ford F550 northbound when it struck the rear of a 2012 Hyundai Tucson driven by Denise A. Rusnak, 50, also of Effort, pushing it into a 2020 Lincoln operated by Mahabin A. Pegeise, 43, of Nazareth.
• Hector K. Torres, 26, of Carnegie, sustained possible injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 2:07 p.m. Nov. 23 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. Police said he was not transported to a medical facility but received a medical evaluation by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association.
Police said he was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound at a high rate of speed when he approached multiple vehicles in front of his car in both lanes of travel. They said Torres lost control of the vehicle which spun clockwise down an embankment. The car sustained minor damages and was able to be driven from the scene.
• A 77-year-old Blakeslee woman is the victim of a theft by deception incident that police were called to at 1:13 p.m. Dec. 5 at a property at Allegheny Drive and Sunapee Lane in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said the woman did not sustain any loss of money.
• Police are investigating a theft incident that happened Dec. 11.
The victim is Lapp Structures, Chestnuthill Township. Police said brackets on a shed door were broken and a silver Master key and a wooden shed ramp were stolen from the shed.
• Police are investigating a theft that was reported to them at 12:01 a.m. Dec. 7.
The victim is a 78-year-old Stroudsburg man who reported he had a hunting blind set up on the north side of his property located on Crossings Lane, Jackson Township and said he found a chair and two deer calls removed from inside the blind.
• A 22-year-old Stroudsburg man is the victim of the theft of an Ibanez, Exotic Wood series guitar and case valued at $479.
Police said he reported the theft at 9:13 p.m. Nov. 28 at a property on Sunset Road, Jackson Township.
• A 52-year-old Saylorsburg man is the victim of a check-altering theft that police were called to at 12:39 a.m. Dec. 7.
Police said the resident of 127 Parkside Ave., Tobyhanna Township, related he mailed a PNC Bank check for $300 that ended up being deposited for $30,000.
• Police were called to a hit-and-run incident that happened Dec. 9 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
They said Dustin R. Rotkewicz, 30, of Effort, was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram truck northbound when another vehicle attempted to overtake the truck. Police said when Rotkewicz attempted to make a right turn onto Maltese Road, the passing vehicle struck the Dodge causing minor damages.
• Eva M. Lanier, 19, of Albrightsville, was cited for texting while driving after a two-vehicle mishap at 4:28 p.m. Dec. 9 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Impala that struck the rear of a stationary 2006 Toyota Tacoma operated by Clifford D. Cudney, 85, of Brodheadsville. Police said the Impala was towed from the scene while the Tacoma was able to be driven after the crash.
