Dollar General moves forward

A proposed Dollar General in Mahoning Township has received the go ahead to move forward.

On a 4-0 vote, township supervisors on Wednesday approved the development agreement and stormwater operating and maintenance agreements.

At a special meeting last month, the board unanimously approved a preconstruction agreement for Dollar General.

However, the board didn’t take any action on the development, stormwater operating and maintenance agreements, and letter of credit.

Cole Boyer, project engineer for JLM Investments LLC, along with attorney Gretchen Stearns, legal counsel, were in attendance at that meeting.

The plan calls for building a 10,700-square-foot store with 32 parking spaces. JLM Investments LLC is the project engineer for the project, while the site is owned by Duschak One LLC.

In July, the board had signed a preconstruction agreement with Starbucks that enabled the company to begin doing some earth moving, but they couldn’t start to put up their building until supervisors signed off on agreements.

The former Bill’s Bakery was leveled to make room for a Dollar General along Route 443 just east of the Normal Square intersection.
