Sgt. Zach T. Miller of Jim Thorpe passed the sergeant board of examination held at the U.S Army Installation at Fort Drum, New York. He received his promotion to sergeant effective April 1.

Sgt. Miller is currently assigned to Charlie Company Snipers, 3-71 Recon Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat team, 10th Mountain Division, United States Army.His other achievements include: Infantry school graduate, expert infantryman badge awardee, sniper school attendee, air assault school, mountain leaders advanced rifle course (top shot), master gunner school (top shot), tactical leaders course (honor graduate), mountain warfare school, urban combat school, hand to hand combative course levels 1 and 2, demolition team certified, breaching team certified, fast rope insertion certified and combat life saver course, and the NCO academy warrior leaders course (commandant's list).Sgt. Miller is the son of Barbara and Jay Miller of Jim Thorpe.
