State police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following:
• Police said $1,700 worth of equipment was reported stolen from a worksite at the Palmerton exit of Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township.
Baseline Contracting reported at 10:46 a.m. Nov. 1 that someone stole a Stihl saw worth $1,000 and two Hilti hammer drills worth $700 sometime between Oct. 30 and Nov. 1.
• A 25-year-old Hazleton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop police made at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 3.
They stopped him in a 2005 Nissan Sentra for numerous traffic violations at the intersection of Samuels Avenue and East Court in Hazleton. He was taken into custody and taken for a chemical blood test.
• Police said Carol Deblass, 71, of Kunkletown, who reported a theft to them, refused to cooperate with the investigation and declined to have police proceed with prosecution in the case.
The theft was reported to have happened between 12:12 a.m. Nov. 10 and 12:12 a.m. Nov. 16 at 128 Garden Grove Lane, Eldred Township.
• Police said $5,714 was reported stolen in an incident at a property on Route 115 in Ross Township.
They were summoned at 1 p.m. Nov. 13 to the locations where the victim and an employee of Fuelin Fine Auto, Alexander Conrad, explained on Nov. 11 he put the money in a secured location, only to find out two days later that it was no longer there.
• Robin Burden, 38, of Saylorsburg, is the victim of a $3,000 theft that was reported to police at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 15.
It happened at 400 Blue Ridge Road, Ross Township, and involved a Ticketmaster gift card, police said.
• Sebastian J. Schade, 20, of Lehighton, escaped injuries when he swerved a car he was driving to avoid striking a cat that had entered the roadway, resulting the vehicle crashing.
It happened at 12:02 a.m. Nov. 16 on Long Run Road in Franklin Township. Police said the 2011 Toyota Prius hut a tree and came to rest in the wooded area adjacent to the westbound lane of Long Run Road.
The car was towed from the scene, police said.
• Police were called to investigate a burglary in Ross Township that was reported at 1:38 p.m. Nov. 16.
A 27-year-old Saylorsburg man reported the burglary but upon investigating police said no evidence was observed on scene to indicate a burglary was committed.
