Fire destroys garages in New Ringgold

Two garages were destroyed and several adjoining structures heavily damaged by a fast moving fire overnight in New Ringgold.

The blaze was reported around 3 a.m. Thursday in a garage near the intersection of Royer and Reeser streets. When firefighters arrived on scene they found a large wood frame structure fully involved in flames and a second on fire. Initial reports from the scene there were possibly several younger people in the garage at the time.

Immediately a second alarm was dispatched for tankers and RIT. The two garages and a car were destroyed while several other garages and homes received heavy fire and heat damage, some as much as a hundred feet away.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Reports from the scene are those in the structure at the time of the fire either may have been working on a vehicle or were squatters. A state police fire marshal is investigating the incident.
