Reinbold will lead CCTI for rest of school year
The Carbon Career & Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee voted to extend the agreement of the term of David Reinbold as interim administrative director from Dec. 31, 2023 to June 30, 2024.
Reinbold is being paid $438 per day with no benefits.
The JOC approved an agreement with Reinbold at the beginning of the school year to serve as the interim administrative director and records retention officer.
Reinbold had served as administrative director for many years until retiring in 2022.
Brent Borzak was appointed director April 1, 2022, but resigned earlier this year for personal and health reasons.

CCTI announced the following:
• Thirty-three CCTI students will attend the DECA District Competition at Lehigh Carbon Community College, Dec. 19 in Schnecksville at a cost of $2,020 to cover student and adviser/chaperone registration and transportation costs. Carly Rinda, DECA adviser, Scott Bartholomew, DECA assistant adviser, and one other person will chaperone.
• Approximately 57 CCTI students will attend SkillsUSA District Competition on Dec. 8 at Hazleton Area Career Center, Hazle Township, Dec. 12 at Johnson College, Scranton, and Jan. 4 at Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke, for a total cost of $1,635 to cover registration and materials for participants and adviser registration. Competitions will be chaperoned by Kevin Kuehner, SkillsUSA adviser, and Heather Cassidy and Kevin Sowa, SkillsUSA co-advisers, as well as Walter O’Donnell, Carpentry Instructional aide.
• Two CCTI students, to be named later, will attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program at Millersville University from May 30 through June 2 at a cost not to exceed $650 for both students.
• Financial audits for the Carbon Career & Technical Institute and the Carbon County Area Vocational-Technical School Authority, both submitted by Kirk, Summa & Company of East Stroudsburg, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023 were accepted. There were no findings for the 2022-2023 General Fund audit, nor the 2023-2023 Authority audit.
• The CCTI Joint Operating Committee revived a motion tabled last month regarding the purchase of a Hobart commercial dishwasher with electric tank heater and a 30kW electric booster heater, dish unloader/conveyor from Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company (Co-stars #036-E23-045) at a cost of $72,863.54. They then voted to approve the purchase of the dishwasher from Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company at a total cost of $65,562.14. The lower cost was due to the fact that the provider had forgotten to include the Co-stars discount.
• The committee voted to table a motion to approve the purchase of a Security DVR Server from Keystone Fire and Security at a total cost of $49,717.
