Penn Mahoning Ambulance recognized by West Penn

The Penn Mahoning Ambulance was recently recognized for its busy October schedule by the West Penn Township supervisors, who accepted the emergency responders report at last week’s meeting.

According to the report, Unit 935 had 40 calls, including 11 for treatment and transport, and seven cancellations. Four of the calls were for lift assists; three for patients who refused care; and one each for no treatment required, standby, public safety and treated but refused transport.

Ten were treated and transported with on-board Advanced Life Support Services. The ambulance took patients to Lehigh Valley-Carbon, Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest, Lehigh Valley-Schuylkill East, St. Luke’s-Carbon and St. Luke’s-Miners.

Calls were from East Brunswick Township, New Ringgold, Tamaqua, and West Penn Township, according to the report.

Since Jan. 1, the ambulance has responded to 342 calls.

“You guys are doing a great job,” supervisors’ Chairman Anthony Prudenti said to ambulance president Valerie Coombe.

“In August, September and October, you guys have really picked up the pace, which we appreciate,” Supervisor Glenn Hummel said.

Supervisor Tim Houser noted that because of hunting season, “the deer are really moving out there.”

“Try to prevent accidents. Be very aware of your surroundings,” Houser advised attendees.

During the meeting, the board recognized members of West Penn Boy Scout Troop 756. The youths attended the meeting as part of a requirement for their Citizenship in the Community merit badges.

The board’s next regular meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 in the township municipal building. A budget workshop will follow.
