Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reports on incidents on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

• Awikda Dianeliz Acevedo, 25, of Forty Fort, was arrested on a warrant issued against her in New Jersey and committed to the Lehigh County Correctional Facility, Allentown, in lieu of $100,000 after a traffic stop police made at 8:45 a.m. Nov. 4 at mile marker 69.1 in Washington Township.

Police said she was driving a 2020 Mercedes-Benz southbound and was clocked at 95 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Police said a warrant had been issued for her arrest in New Jersey for a weapons violation.

• Aaron C. Cage, 44, of Syracuse, New York, was uninjured in a violent crash at 9:40 p.m. Nov. 3 at mile marker 82.1 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said it happened when a 2009 Chevrolet Impala was disabled in the right lane of travel from a previous crash and the front of the vehicle was facing the opposite direction with no illumination.

Police said a 2022 Freightliner rig was traveling south in the right lane when it impacted the front of the Impala. After the impact, the truck dragged the Impala for about 750 feet. The car came to rest partially in the right lane of travel while the rig came to a controlled stop on the shoulder of the road.

Police said the engine block of the Impala became separated from underneath the hood, a muffler and exhaust system were left laying in the road, the windshield was smashed and the front doors were unable to be opened.

Police said the operator of the car advised them he was able to exit the vehicle soon after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash. He said the second impact occurred less than one minute after he exited the vehicle.

Cage told police he was southbound in the right lane of travel and did not see any lights. He said he continued southbound until the last moment when he realized a vehicle was in the roadway.

• Austin J. Frantz, 18, of Albrightsville, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at mile marker 82.3 in Penn Forest Township at 9:38 p.m. Nov. 3.

Police said he had suspected minor injuries but was not transported to a medical facility after the crash.

• Emily C. Morrison, 23, of Philadelphia, was uninjured in a one-vehicle incident at 2:21 a.m. Nov. 3 at mile marked 77.3 in Franklin Township.

A passenger in the car, Elizabeth A. Morrison, 21, of Philadelphia, was uninjured.

• A 2015 Ford Explorer driven by Keith A. Chaffee, 72, of Pine Hill, New Jersey, struck a deer at mile marker 72.1 in Franklin Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was southbound when the incident happened at 2:20 a.m. Nov. 3. Chaffee was uninjured.

• Michael W. Mageria, 36, of Jenkintown, was uninjured when a 2019 Toyota Tacoma he was driving struck a deer at 4:37 a.m. Nov. 2. at mile marker 85.3.
