A Monroe County man has been charged with attempted arson after a fire Sunday night in Tobyhanna.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police were dispatched at 8:48 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of Cayuga Drive for a domestic in which Ruslan Molnar, 38, of Tobyhanna, was threatening to burn down the house.

Police arrived and found Molnar with a gas can, lighter and cigarettes.

Molnar had poured a large amount of gas on the front porch and was refusing the officer’s commands.

He was taken into custody after he lit a cigarette and picked up the gas can.

Molnar was charged with attempted arson, endangering the welfare of children, as well as domestic related charges.

He was taken into custody and was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
