A Lansford man and employee of the Evening Record newspaper will be honored at the 66th anniversary banquet of the Pottsville Typographical Union No. 320 for his 40-plus continuous years of membership with the union.
Luther J. Nochton, 359 W. Patterson St., president of the local, will be rounding out 42 years of continuous membership with the union.
He entered the trade in 1918 shortly after leaving his eighth grade schooling and was employed as an apprentice on the new defunct Evening Telegram at Ashland. He worked in the newspaper industry in Hazleton, Allentown and Mahanoy City before joining the Evening Record on May 1, 1926.
