Monroe County incidents
State police at Stroudsburg reported on the following incidents:
• A 40-year-old Saylorsburg woman is the victim of a theft being investigated by state police at the Stroudsburg barracks. Police said they were called at 11:43 a.m. Sept. 5 to a property on Route 115 in Ross Township to investigate the theft that the woman said happened on Sept. 1.
• A 65-year-old woman from Brooklyn, New York, is facing federal firearms and falsifying information charges after an incident at 11:27 a.m. Sept. 18 at Gallagher Guns, Cresco. Police said she attempted to purchase a shotgun at the business. It was determined she falsified information on the federal firearms form regarding her immigration status.
• Police responded to 13 different Megan’s Law verification cases on Sept. 25 as follows: 1:06 p.m. at Cherry Lane Church Road, Pocono Township; 1:07 p.m. at Old Indian Path, Pocono Township; 1:08 p.m. at Cedar Lane, Pocono Township; 1:31 p.m. at Meixsell Valley Road, Ross Township; 1:30 p.m. at Vista Drive, Ross Township; 1:17 p.m. at Maple Rock Lane and Route 715 in Pocono Township; 1:44 p.m. at Rustic Lane, Hamilton Township; 1:42 p.m. at Limestone Lane and Possinger Street, Hamilton Township; 1:41 p.m. at Betty Drive, Hamilton Township; 1:39 p.m., at Jessie Lane, Hamilton Township; 1:37 p.m. at Meadow Lake Road, Hamilton Township; 1:34 p.m. at Lake Road and Girard Avenue, Hamilton Township; and 9:11 a.m. at Mary Ann Terrace, Hamilton Township.
• A 52-year-old Mountainhome woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after an incident at 4:38 p.m. Oct. 16.
Police said they were conducting an investigation at Peak Motor Sales, Route 209 and Beaver Valley Road, Hamilton Township, where they placed the woman under arrest, transported her to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, and released her.
Police said she was operating a 1997 Jeep Wrangler.
• David Dean, 29, of Brodheadsville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a crash at 2:54 p.m. Oct. 14 on private property at a residence located on Greenview Drive, Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 1997 Honda Accord northbound on Greenview Drive when he lost control on a right curve during an active rainfall. Police said the car traveled off the roadway, skidded across the grass and struck a stone pillar at the end of the homeowner’s driveway.
Police said the car sustained debilitating damage to its front end and was towed from the scene while the pillar had significant damages.
Police said Dean was uninjured and refused an evaluation by emergency medical services personnel.
• An indecent assault report remains under investigation after police responded to Route 209 in Hamilton Township. Police received information about a possible child abuse incident that occurred several years ago. It happened between April 26, 2020, and April 26, 2021, and reportedly involved an 11-year-old girl from Rehrersburg.
The Monroe County Office of Children and Youth Services in joining police in the investigation.
• Police said a 25-year-old woman from Cresco was charged with failure to comply with Megan’s Law reporting after they conducted a sexual offender re-verification check at 6:22 p.m. Oct. 10 at a property on Rimrock Road in Hamilton Township.
• A 60-year-old Saylorsburg man is the woman is a theft incident in which he lost $2,600.64.
Police were called at 7 a.m. Oct. 13 to a property on Darcy Drive in Chestnuthill Township. The man reported money was taken from his PayPal account that is linked to his ESSA bank account. Police said the investigation will be turned over to the Fern Ridge barracks.
