The 52-year-old merger between the Nesquehoning and Packerton Lutheran churches was ended yesterday by a 75-1 vote. Dissolution was voted after the morning services and will go into effect Nov. 29.
The Nesquehoning church will become aligned with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, with the Rev. Donald L. Brown, pastor, serving as supply pastor. The Packerton church will be aligned with Grace Lutheran Church, Lehighton, with the Rev. James Papada, pastor, as the supply pastor.
The new alignment has already been approved by the Eastern Lutheran Synod.
