A case of forgery/counterfeiting involving a property sale in Penn Forest Township is under investigation.

A 34-year-old Albrightsville woman reported in December 2020 that she purchased a residence and adjacent vacant property on Byron Lane, Penn Forest Township, for $210,000.

She told police shortly after the sale was completed she received two voicemails from an employee at the title company relating their company had made a mistake. The caller said the adjacent property was subsequently returned to the previous owner without the victim’s consent.

The woman said her signature was forged and the property was returned to the previous owners.
