2023 election preview: 2 seek Schuylkill Clerk of Courts position

Editor’s note: We are running previews of key races in the general election through Saturday.

Democrats Jesseca Sickle and Republican Crista DiCasimirro are running for the Schuylkill Clerk of Courts seat. DiCassimirro answered questions sent by the Times News.

The clerk of courts prepares and maintains the records for the Criminal Division of the Court of Common Pleas. The clerk also certifies and prepares bills of costs for the defendants and utilizes the computerized financial management system to disburse fines, costs and restitution.

The salary has been set at $58,613.72.

Crista DiCasimirro

Background: I am a lifelong resident of Schuylkill County, currently residing in Mahanoy Township with my fiancé and baby daughter. I am a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor’s in marketing. I have worked within the county since 2015 and has served as First Deputy Clerk of Courts since 2017.

Why you are running for office: I have worked in this office for almost eight years and I want to continue the great work I have been doing. I have been the first deputy clerk of courts since 2017 and have handled every job in this office. I manage all accounts for the office as well as personnel issues. I have excellent leadership skills and complete knowledge of how to run this office which makes me the perfect candidate.

Three main priorities if elected: Maintain order and balance to the clerk of courts office, to serve our county’s taxpayers with due diligence and integrity and to work for victims to ensure payment of restitution and transparency throughout the legal process.

Additional comment: I am running for this office because I want to continue my work and to serve this great county. My extensive knowledge on the inner workings of the office as well as my continued leadership makes me the most qualified candidate for this position.
