Carbon County is looking for a few more poll workers for the Nov. 7 General Election.
On Thursday, Jennifer Ketchledge, elections director, announced that there are nine clerk positions open in various municipal polling districts.
She said that poll workers are paid $175 a day.
To be a clerk in a polling place, you need to be a registered voter in Carbon County.
Polling places that have clerk vacancies include East Penn Township North, two positions; East Side Borough, two positions; Lower Towamensing Township North, one position; Palmerton Borough East, two positions; Summit Hill Borough 4th, one position; and Weissport Borough, one position.
Anyone interested in filling one of these positions should call the elections office at 570-325-4801.
In other election matters, Ketchledge reported that the preparations leading up to the election are going well.
“We have two seasonal workers that are working with us right now,” she said. “Our poll books (were) sent out today from the state. We should receive them within the next three days. That’s the only thing we’re waiting for to put in our bags and then we are as good as gold.”
