Scout Cole Knox recognized for achieving Eagle rank

Cole Knox of Andreas received the rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Faith Worship Center in Orwigsburg.

Since joining scouting in 2015, Cole has held numerous leadership positions in Clamtown Troop 755, including Assistant Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He has earned a variety of merit badges such as athletics, rifle shooting, communications, cooking, and wilderness survival.

To date, he has earned 29 merit badges, five of which will allow him to earn his bronze palm.

Cole’s Eagle Scout Project involved the construction and installation of twin markers dedicated to the respective branches of the U.S. military and to those who served in those branches outside of the Faith Worship Center in West Brunswick Township.

State Rep. Jamie Barton, and Schuylkill County commissioners Gary Hess and Barron “Boots” Hetherington were in attendance to personally honor Cole with proclamations, certificates, and words of acclamation.

Also, leaders of the Faith Worship Center spoke of Cole’s growth, dedication, and achievements. In addition, Cole received dozens of congratulatory letters and certificates sent by other government departments and officials, local agencies and other dignitaries who were unable to attend.

Cole is a freshman at Tamaqua High School. He is enrolled in Schuylkill Technical Center in the field of electricity. Cole also enjoys high school activities such as baseball, basketball, and cross country. By the time he graduates, Cole plans to have several certifications in electricity and related fields and subsequently seek any additional training/education to best further his career as an electrician.

He lives with his parents Darren and Donna Knox, along with his sister Karlee and their dog Bella, at their home in Andreas.

At the court of honor, Cole thanked his fellow Scouts and family, and presented Damon Krall, Blake Tharp, and Ann Kirby with the scouting “mentor” pin for their involvement throughout his scouting career. He also presented grandparent pins to his grandparents, Dale and Gloria Faust of Andreas, and Don and Cheryl Knox of Franklin.

Chartered in 1950, Troop 755 is one of the oldest Boy Scout troops is Schuylkill County, and Cole is the 65th scout to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

More information about the troop can be found on their Facebook page “Clamtown Troop 755.”
