Lansford Borough Council

Lansford Borough Council approved the following matters this week:

• Scheduling a meeting with the Panther Valley School District regarding sidewalk issues at the Panther Valley Stadium. Council President Bruce Markovich said this is the third time the borough is meeting with school officials on this issue.

• Heard from West Snyder Avenue resident James Gulla regarding a condemned, vacant property with high grass, weeds, bushes, garbage and other issues. He said there is a court-order on the property, and asked if the borough can do something. Markovich said they would look at the court order and see if the borough can hire someone to do the work.

• Approved scheduling a meeting with the owner of Construction Clearance to discuss issues with the property it leases from the borough. Council moved to evict the business from the former Silberline buildings along Dock Street earlier this month.

• Approved scheduling a meeting with the Carbon County District Attorney and Carbon County commissioners regarding a personnel issue. Ditsky asked for background on the matter, and Markovich said there was nothing they could discuss at a public meeting. Councilwoman Jennifer Staines was opposed.
