Andreas parade features floats, cars
“Where’s the Beef” wasn’t really a question at the 72nd Andreas Halloween Parade.
It was front and center as the winner of the float contest.
The float was entered by Miller’s Charm Farm and was one of the many highlights of the annual parade, sponsored by the West Penn Lions Club, VFW Post 5069 and the Andreas Sporting Club.
Second place in the float contest was the Litle Blue Truck and his Toad by the Hunsciker and Kistler families. Third place was Jurassic Park by the West Penn Club Pack 756.
Honorable mentions were Grease by Lorah’s Property Repair, Apple Tree Kennels by Gary and Carol Jemo, Bad to the Bone and the Halloween Painter’s.
First place in the vehicles contest was a 1969 Chevell Super Sport, with second going to Ghost Buster’s Car by Daniel Tyson, and taking third was Dukes of Hazzard by Brett Piedmeyer.
Honorable mentions were a 1938 Plymouth by Jim knappenberger, and a 1950 Ford F-1 Truck by Randy and Kathy Miller.
The parade started with the Tamaqua Marching Band, followed by several floats and old cars.
Connor Evans, who was driven in a 1937 Packard, was the grand marshal.
Carbon County Fair Queen Jayden Gursky was escorted by Crystal View Carriage Services.
Several fire companies and first responders as well as West Penn Police Chief James Bonner also took part.
The contest judges were Tina Dougherty, Becky Neumoyer, and Katrina Williams.
Jackie and Angelo Selitto handled the parade’s lineup.
