A fatal crash Wednesday afternoon closed Route 209 in Walker Township.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m., about 2 miles west of Tamaqua.

Three medical transport helicopters, which landed on the highway, transported the victims from the scene.

According to reports at the scene, one person died.

State police at Frackville are investigating.
