Weatherly man charged after argument led to gunshots

A 56-year-old Weatherly man faces multiple charges after an argument that led to gunfire on Buck Mountain Road in Lehigh Township Sunday evening, state police said.

David Feliciano was charged with possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and simple assault after the 6:42 p.m. incident, in which he was arguing with a 25-year-old man over family matters, police said.

The argument escalated when Feliciano pulled a revolver, fired at least one round into the air and then pointed the gun at the man, who retrieved his legally-possessed gun and discharged the one round, troopers said.

Feliciano was struck in the arm and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, and then taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for further treatment, state police said.

Immediately after the gunfire, the younger man, who was not identified, gathered family members, left the area and called state police to provide his location, troopers said. He rendered his gun to police.

Troopers found that Feliciano was not to be in possession of a gun. Carbon County District Attorney Michael Greek approved the charges against Feliciano, police said.

The investigation is ongoing in consultation with Carbon County District Attorney’s Office. It appears to be an isolated incident with no risk to the general public.
