Wawa moves forward in Rush Twp.

Plans for a Wawa convenience store in the village of Hometown are moving ahead.

During Thursday’s Rush Township supervisors’ meeting, the board approved a number of waivers for the convenience store’s land development plans.

The waivers, which were recommended by the township’s Planning Commission, include setbacks, map designs and storm sewer pipe sizes.

Developers from Provco Pineville Acquisitions LLC of Villanova plan to put the Wawa at 347 Claremont Ave. (Route 309). The proposed 55,000 square foot store would include six fueling stations.

It would be located next to My Brother’s Beer Barn and across from the Hometown Commons, which includes a Walmart, Taco Bell, Dollar Tree and other stores.

Supervisors also approved the purchase of 12 grinder pumps for $30,867.72 from Site Specific.

The township will hold a “Trick or Trunk” Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Hometown Farmer’s Market. The township’s Trick or Treat will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Supervisors noted that the November board meeting will be moved from Nov. 16 to 7 p.m. Nov. 20.

Supervisor Robert Leibensperger said that the township road crew recently completed a resurfacing project on Bernhard Road. The road was riddled with potholes and the source of recent complaints from residents.

Leibensperger said the road crew also resurfaced Shawn, Charles, Messerschmidt and Orchard roads in the township, and worked with neighboring Ryan Township to resurface Skyview and Apple streets.
