The Honorable William D. Hutchinson became a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit at a ceremony Monday in the Schuylkill County Courthouse, Pottsville.

Hutchinson resigned from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Oct. 18 after serving for five years of his 10-year term after having received unanimous U.S. Senate support of his appointment to the federal bench.

Chief Judge, John J. Gibbons, of the Circuit Court, administered Judge Hutchinson his oath before more than 300 persons who witnessed the historical event.
