Fishing lodge proposed in Franklin Twp.
A proposed fishing lodge in Franklin Township is being discussed.
Carbon County Planning Commission discussed the plans by Crazy Trout LLC for a fishing camp on 100.82 acres at 469 Forest St.
The plans call for building a 8,850.50-square-foot lodge, ten 460-square-foot member cottages and parking areas.
Ivan O. Meixell, county planner, said that the location is an existing private fishing camp, but believes the submitted plan “does not conform to preliminary/final plan requirements of the Franklin Township Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance.
He pointed out several items that should be addressed before the plan is approved, including providing information on the maintenance of stormwater management facilities, an erosion and sediment pollution control plan needs to be approved by the conservation district, approved for the modified sewage facilities planning module from the Department of Environmental Protection, additional labels on plans and additional details on plans that must be updated.
The planning commission did not take any action on a recommendation, stating that the plan has several areas of noncompliance and “precludes any recommendation for approval.”
The comments the commission has will be submitted to Franklin Township officials, the township engineer and the applicant to include with further discussion.
In other matters, the planning commission reviewed but made no recommendation on a proposed update at the Covered Bridge Inn, 4300 Little Gap Road, Lower Towamensing Township.
The plans call for reconfiguring and expanding the existing parking areas, installing a stormwater detention basin and management facilities that would be hooked up to an existing stormwater inlet, reconfiguring the driveway entrance, installing new sidewalks and constructing a concrete patio.
Meixell, in his review of the plans to the commission, said there were several areas of noncompliance found and preludes any recommendation.
The review will be sent to Lower Towamensing Township for inclusion with further discussions.
