Girl Scouts learn about fire safety

Last week Girl Scouts from Nesquehoning, Jim Thorpe, and Tamaqua met at the New Columbus Fire Company for Fire Prevention Week.

The girls were able to learn what kind of special equipment firefighters use to save lives in the case of an emergency.

After going over the apparatus, the group reviewed safety tips and reminders about fires.

Chief Tyler Schlier reminded everyone to “check the batteries in your smoke detectors and make sure your home has at least one smoke detector on each level.”
