Monroe County incidents

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported on several incidents:

• A 47-year-old Kunkletown man was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 7:29 a.m. Sept. 1.

They stopped him in a 2002 Ford Explorer for numerous traffic violations on Turtle Walk Lane in Hamilton Township.

• Police responded to the Mount Airy Casino in Paradise Township at 9:40 p.m. Sept. 2 for a forgery/counterfeiting incident.

Police said a patron attempted to get a genuine $100 bill from the main cash cage of the casino, using a fake $100 bill marked for “Motion Picture Use Only.” Police said their investigation determined the patron did not know the bill he had was fake and the investigation was terminated.

• A 29-year-old man from Barto was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance after a traffic stop they made at 10:26 p.m. Sept. 2 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.

Police said they stopped him in a 2010 Honda for violations of Title 75, after which time he was determined to be under the influence and was taken into custody.

• Police said a 67-year-old Long Pond Man who was involved in a single-vehicle accident at 2:25 p.m. Sept. 2 at the intersection of Seven Bridge Road and the Joseph W. Battisto in Smithfield Township is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Can-Am ATV that struck the guard railing. He was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, by emergency personnel.

• A 61-year-old Reeders man is facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop made by police at 8:44 p.m. Sept. 4 at the intersection of Route 611 and Woodland Road in Paradise Township.

He was stopped in a 2011 Subaru Legacy and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

• Police said a woman came to their barracks at 5:25 p.m. Sept. 13 and reported an unknown individual made a traffic stop of her vehicle on Interstate 80 westbound.

Police said a man in a suspicious van with red and blue lights on it stopped her that morning between 8:45-9 o’clock and identified himself as a fire marshal.

• Police said a 24-year-old woman from South River, was charged with theft of a cockapoo dog valued at $2,500.

Police said the victim is a 31-year-old woman from Stroudsburg.

Police said they were called at 5 p.m. Sept. 7 to a property on Walbert Drive, Hamilton Township, for a report of a stolen dog that had been located.

• A 34-year-old East Stroudsburg man was charged with harassment by physical contact and criminal mischief after an incident that police were called to at 3 a.m. Sept. 16 on Manor Drive in Hamilton Township.

Police said the man approached his ex-girlfriend who was seated in a 2016 Mazda CX3. After learning the woman did not want to carry on a conversation, police said it is alleged the man grabbed her through the driver’s side window in a threatening manor.

Police said he left and later returned, banging on the windows of the car and causing damage to the rear window wiper.

Police said a 67-year-old woman from Stroudsburg is also a victim in the incident.

• Police cited a 31-year-old Barnesville man for harassment by physical contact after they responded to a domestic in progress at 8:28 p.m. Sept. 16 at a property on Snow Hill Falls Road in Price Township.

The victims are two 30-year-old women, one from Cresco and the other from Clifton, New Jersey.

Police said it is alleged the man, who was in a highly-intoxicated state, harassed the women to physical contact.

Police said one of the woman told them she was the man’s ex-girlfriend and that the two women were having a party for the man because it was his birthday.

• Police arrested a 55-year-old Saylorsburg woman for cruelty to animals after she abandoned a cat at Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation, Cherry Drive, Hamilton Township.

Police were called there at 5:44 p.m. Sept. 19 after the woman in a 2005 Toyota van abandoned the cat.

Police said it was reported the facility does not take in domestic animals.

• Police said an unknown person rummaged through an unlocked vehicle at 3:30 a.m. Sept. 24 on Becca Lane in Hamilton Township.

A 53-year-old woman from Stroudsburg reported the person entered the 2012 Kia Sedona that was parked in her driveway and later fled the scene.

Police said it was determined that nothing was taken from the car.
