A Lansford woman faces multiple charges after breaking into a neighboring home for water Monday afternoon.
Fallon Hill, 29, of West Patterson Street, was charged with burglary and criminal trespass and jailed in the county prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
According to court papers, Tammy Mertz, the owner of 359 W. Patterson St., arrived at the property and found Hill inside the home filling jugs of water from the kitchen sink.
Police believe Hill entered the home through a now-broken back porch window, court papers said. Hill, laughed and cursed at Mertz when discovered, and then fled out the back door when confronted, court papers said.
Hill, who fled to her home at 363 Patterson St., reportedly caused water damage to the Mertz’s floor and broke the back porch screen door when fleeing, court papers said.
Police attempted to contact Hill, who refused to come out of the house and surrender. The back door was locked and barricaded with objects, court papers said.
Hill is wanted on pending charges by Lansford police, and existing charges by the county sheriff’s office.
Hill surrendered to police and a county sheriff’s unit around 6:20 p.m., nearly an hour and a half after officers were summoned to the call, court papers said.
A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for Oct. 4.
