Cranberry Quilt Guild to meet, display wool applique pieces

Cranberry Quilt Guild will meet Monday at Faith United Church of Christ off Airport Beltway in Hazle Township, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

This month the nominating committee has been hard at work gathering the next slate of officers for the upcoming 2-year term.

Nominees will be announced with the voting scheduled to take place in October.

The new regime takes office in November.

On the agenda for the September meeting will be a wool applique trunk show hosted by members, Eileen Blazic, Elaine Hubbard and Mary Grace DiGennari. Wool applique has been an art form for hundreds of years. From the early American colonists, Native Americans, and European cultures, all have used this art form. The technique is often used on smaller pieces.

Future projects for the group will include plans for the 2024 Quilt show.

Members are reminded to line up their projects for the winter season to be exhibited at the show. November will feature a workshop, which is a new avenue for the group. Details will follow.

Members are reminded to bring in their completed fidget and baby quilts for community donation. Quilts of Valor continue to be popular with the guild, and members can receive block patterns. Information can be obtained through coordinator Marie Shulenski.

The Cranberry guild also has two long arm quilting services available to members and the public. Contact Cindy at longarmquilter.net and Debi at QueenBeeQuilting2@yahoo.com
