Slatington Borough Council approved the following including requests two from Caring Hearts Inc. One is a request to hold “Project Warm and Cozy” from noon to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in Victory Park, and run through mid-January.
The second is for Caring Hearts to conduct Trees in the Park from Dec. 2 to Jan. 15.
Denise Martinez, founder/CEO/President of Caring Hearts, attended the council meeting, and will provide more information on the events at a later date.
• Payment of $5,083.40 to LB Construction Enterprises Inc. for 2021 CDBG (E. Franklin Street and ADA improvements), contingent upon approval by Lehigh County. This is the final payment of the project.
• Rebecca Edwards for the vacant position on the zoning hearing board. This term will expire on ec. 31, 2025.
• Quote from Envirep for $8,484.42 for sludge transfer pumps and $3,432.54 for impellers and wear plates on the recirculation pumps.
• Quote from LB Water for Sensus Read gun for $644.22.
• Request from Lindsay Taylor, Northern Lehigh Recreations Center for its 7th Annual Candy Cane Hunt from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Dec. 9 at Victory Park.
• Request from Lindsay Taylor, NLRA, to place a portable signboard at the corner of Grove St. and Route 873, within the boundaries of Victory Park. The sign will remain there year round to advertise upcoming events.
• Appointed Beverly Benfer to the Slatington Public Library Board of Directors with a term that will fulfill the remainder of David Hauser’s three-year term.
• Request from Northern Lehigh School District to conduct the Homecoming Parade from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29.
• The Slatington Veterans Memorial Committee sent a letter that they are disbanding the committee. The Historical Society will maintain the flags and install the remaining bricks.
