Steven Lewis, MD, Lehigh Valley Fleming Neuroscience Institute Physician in Chief, has been recognized by the American Neurological Association for his dedication to neuroscience education.
The ANA Award for Excellence in Education (Career based over 15 years) is awarded to only one outstanding educator in the field of neuroscience annually, making contributions to the neurology profession not only through their own work but also through empowering their students to continue to grow the understanding of the brain and nervous system.
Dr. Lewis received the award at the 148th ANA annual meeting at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
“Education is near and dear to my heart and I am honored and humbled by this recognition by the ANA,” says Dr. Lewis. “Ensuring that current and future doctors and other health care professionals, wherever in the world they may be, receive top-notch world class education in the clinical neurosciences is paramount. My colleagues and I at Lehigh Valley Fleming Neuroscience Institute and Lehigh Valley Health Network are also passionate about providing that education to better serve our patients and our community.”
In 2022, Dr. Lewis was elected Secretary-General of the World Federation of Neurology, becoming just the third American to serve in that position.
