September 16, 1978 - Northwestern quarterback Barry Sottolano scores a game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter, and Scott Fenstermacher runs in the two-point conversion to lift the Tigers to a 22-20 comeback win over Jim Thorpe. Fenstermacher finishes the contest with 96 yards rushing on 23 carries, while Sottolano adds a 26-yard touchdown pass to Robert Keeney. The winners, coached by Gary Williams, also receives a score on special teams when Walter Frisch blocks a punt and Keith Edsall returns it 10 yards to the end zone.
