A 45-year-old Alabama man was charged Tuesday by the Pennsylvania State Police Troop M Bethlehem Criminal Investigation Unit with attempted homicide and other offenses related to a road rage incident on Route 22.
On Tuesday, at 4:44 p.m., troopers from the Bethlehem barracks were dispatched to Route 22 westbound between Route 33 and Route 191 in Bethlehem Township for a vehicle that was hit by gunfire from another vehicle on Route 22.
Troopers made a traffic stop on Route 22 Westbound at the Schoenersville Road exit on a 2006 BMW Z4, operated by Jesus Torres Gonzalez of Birmingham, Alabama, where he was taken into custody for firing two shots at a Honda Civic. Both the operator and passenger of the Honda were uninjured.
Gonzalez was charged with two counts of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and carrying a firearm without a license.
Bail for Gonzalez was denied, and Gonzalez was sent to Northampton County Prison.
